Monday Blessing: Rejoice

Hi.  Welcome.  I am *so glad* you chose to join me in this space today.

I am sharing from my heart today, because I’d like to show you that it is possible to open your heart and rejoice at what you do have..rather than allow external circumstances to manipulate you into less than peace filled.  When external happens, I embrace it for the experience…I try not to label it good or bad, just accept it as it is.  My life is made up of moments and I choose how to experience those moments.  I choose to accept delight, wonder, love, laughter, awe, joy, peace, creativity, passion, deliciousness….I choose, “it” does not choose me…I *create*..and I choose to create my life

Here are two days of that:

On paper, I had a rough week.  I have removed the power from the details, so I may now share that my car did not pass the CA smog test–there is a chance it may be retired.  I was flexed off work a total of four days with no pay.  And my yearly boat insurance is due from that check.  Bummer…perhaps…

I’m about keeping my heart open, so I take those things and think *thank you* for these opportunities–surely they are opportunities–thank you and please show me how to allow my heart to remain open and allow me to embrace what is golden here.

So, I find myself on Friday the 13th–typically a day associated with bad luck–and my boss had called in the middle of the night to flex me off work yet again…This time was different though because during the day we had a conversation about the recent lack of morals within my department and he looked me in the eyes and said you will be here working tomorrow.  Several times.  Then texted me in the middle of the night to flex me off.  It hurt.  However…

My children were sleeping peacefully.  I looked around the boat and had the thought: *I am living a dream*. There were meteor showers predicted for pre-dawn.  I now had three days off work with the children commitment free.  So, I had a choice–as I have a choice every moment–to let external affect my internal or to let my internal rule the day…

I chose to let my internal rule the day…When my children woke we planned to *celebrate* Summer for three days.  And guess what?  As Always happens each and every time that I open my heart in the midst of that which I may not understand..God and the Universe met me in spectacular ways…I choose to rejoice in all that I do have, not worry or panic over what I do not…

I do not have photos to share…however:

In the morning, because I now had time, I was able to work with a few new clients and in doing so open my heart in a huge way…When I guide you through peace, it also magnifies my peace…

My children and I have season passes to a local theme park, and my car actually works and is legal for thirty days, so….When my children woke, they were very surprised to see me, and squealed with delight when I explained since I was home we could spend the day at the theme park..They hurriedly dressed and excitedly got into the car…they knew to accept this treat open heartedly:)  *That* is one way the Universe works, to take what I have and multiply it…”stuck at home” turned into a day at the theme park..requiring no resources from me except an open heart.

As the children and I were driving home after our amazing day together, the sliver of moon shone brightly and there were a few stars, we were singing and dancing to the music in the car (because we love car karaoke), and my son said “Mom, there’s the moon…I bet you are happy now”…My heart flooded with love, for my son knows…he truly knows…And what an understatement he spoke, really. Truly blessed is how I felt.  What do I need in this world but the ability to open my heart and allow love, music, fun, laughter, moonbeams to energize it….I am loved beyond measure exactly as I am, exactly where I am….Blessed indeed.

That would have been “enough”.  I also know I am nestled in God’s hand and the power of the Universe is unlimited.  So, I woke Saturday with an open heart..Please continue to show me the way…

I read this beautiful essay from Evita Stories From an Unconditionally Generous Heart–please read it when you have a chance, your heart will soar.  My heart shot to the moon after reading it..I did not think in terms of loss, man sure wish I had that..but rather in terms of excitement–“can you believe that one day I will be wrapped in Light so beauty filled and loving”  what an exciting thought!  I am blessed to “know” Evita and her readers, lit my heart with love and hope.  Thank you, Evita, for sharing, and thank you God and the Universe for allowing me to See 🙂

In love with the world..I set the intention to clean the outside of the boat…a chore that can take the entire day…Love allowed me to have the mindset that we would wear our bathing suits, splash and make it fun, eat snacks, play…so instead of a “chore” it would be a fun activity.  Instead of grumbling about hard work, we splashed, laughed, cleaned…and when we were almost done, we heard loud live music quite close to us, by the clubhouse pool.  It was national marina day and our marina was throwing a pool party…so already in our bathing suits, with the boat washed well, we headed over to the party.  We ate delicious food, the kids swam and played while I spoke with neighbors I hadn’t seen in a while, of course we brought our hula hoops and *that* was entertaining…Rejoice!  Wait, I didn’t mention the dessert table…four tables packed with every dessert you could imagine! Ah yea, life is good:)

As a family, we tackled a chore in a fun way, and in allowing our hearts to remain open to the day we were blessed beyond what we could have asked for…*That* would have been more than enough….

All of us feeling quite content, we walked home and on the way heard loud live music in the other direction, from the park next to the boat..A concert in the park..So we changed clothes, gathered our stuff and headed over.  It turned out to be my favorite local guitarist with her zydeco band.  Are you familiar with Zydeco?  From Louisiana..French, Caribbean, toe tapping, heart racing kind of bluesy music…guitar, drums, accordion, washboard, violins…bottom line: Zydeco is happy music, no way around that…So, as my children played with their friends…under the brilliant setting sun, with the wind gently caressing my legs, and my skirt flowing (all sensations that I love) I danced with people I did not know…Are you kidding me..this is my life????  I allowed my heart to remain open and was rewarded ten thousand fold…Blessed indeed…because I chose to embrace those blessings…

And the bonus…yep there is a bonus…after such a full day, we came home to a boat as clean as can be…what a feeling that is! Home sweet home…

As you read, do you remember my boss lied, I lost four days of pay, my car is about to be retired, my boat insurance is due?  or are you there giving praise under the moonlight, eating delicious food, thinking about friendships and dessert, dancing under the setting sun…

See, it’s a choice..and I choose to give power to blessings, with ease I allow my life to unfold, as I concentrate on what is good and allow *that* to fill up my moments…

I choose to rejoice…

May you open your heart and rejoice with me?

And, I’d like you to dance with me..so this video is my favorite local guitarist and her Zydeco band…

Much peace,

Joy

Oh Joy, I am reading this and thinking, this is sooo amazing and you are so amazing and this is so powerful and you are so powerful and I so want to hug you as you are the best gift for all of us right now. Yes, this is possible and this is your life and your choice and that is so courageous and so not easy to do. You make your choice sound simple and yet these are not easy circumstances to cope with. Not with two young children, therefore it takes a lot of love and trust and tapping into your power as a human being supported by the universal love to spend a day like you did after what you just had to deal with. Oh Joy, I salute you, you are truly an amazing woman and I send you all the love I feel for you after reading your courageous daring way of living. xox Wilma

    Hi Joy,

You are really amazing at how you can see things in a human perspective rather than a citizen one, not letting material things and problems get in the way of happiness and everyday joy.

Somehow it is funny that today I was struggling with the problem that my van, which I use for my delivery job so I need it working fine everyday, needs new front suspension and a new set of tires, but I have money for only one of those, not both, and if I fix only one I cannot use it for my job, and in that case, I don’t have a job!

Your post and example shows me a better approach to follow to the problem at hand 🙂

I love how you think and live! You are a blessing! Thanks for sharing your joy.

    Hello Joy,

There are those who write and discuss living in this way. and there are those who are out there really living this way and there is Joy, who is doing both! I cannot thank you enough for sharing with us your experiences. As Wilma pointed out, you are making choices and choosing attitudes that aren’t simple, yet you are making them. It’s like watching a professional musician, they’re playing their instrument so well and they make it look so easy. What many do not consider is all the practice that happened BEFORE they were able to play at that level. I know you have faced countless situations, and through your practice, have arrived at your current level.

Joy, you’re on the vanguard of life and your example is a guiding light to others. You’re living one day at a time and you’re doing that by living one moment at a time….I hope to be at that level too. Meanwhile, I’m practicing my heart out…

    Joy,
You are real. And by that – I mean – authentically you. That’s what shines through here always. Life is sometimes challenging. Sometimes…that’s not always easy to share. When we do, though…I really believe we connect at a deeper level with others (because…we’ve all been there…to some degree). Joy, you do this. And in that…YOU build a stronger bond with me. YOU share your human-ness. And in all of that…my connection to you is stronger, more meaningful, more “real”.

    What a gift you are…

    Hi, Joy!

You really lead by example, and everyone who crosses paths with you is given proof positive that life is what we believe. In the face of seeming distress, you find gems. That makes you an eternal queen, and truly queen’s are forever wealthy.

My only wish for you would now be to turn the tide so that your beliefs are pro-active in creating a life of effortless abundance, with a bounty of time, space & everyone & thing good. Right now, I see that you’re a brilliantly neutral reactionist, which is honorable. But I see great wealth & easier times in your future, Joy. Do you see it, too? Can you envision what it would feel like to work part-time hours at a job you LOVED, and be given full-time pay that exceeded your fondest dreams? Can you feel what it would be like to drive a brand new car that came into your life effortlessly and so affordably it was silly?
I can. I hope you can, too.

    Loving you lots!
    Megan

Joy, I am moved by this. Cass and I want to pack up our belongings and join you all under the moonlight. We’ll do the snoopy dance because that’s the most joyful kind of dance we know. Wonderful. Just wonderful. 😀

      Hi Raul,
      Thank you!
What you present has many facets..which I am sure you are now thinking about..I would love to hear the Answer that evolved for you…
I am sure in life I don’t “need” anything..it’s just my mind stopping the Universe flow with thoughts of scarcity rather than my heart open to the abundance I know is available..

      Hi Mark,
      Simply, thank you!

      Hi Keith,
How beauty filled…thank you! I actually don’t like to discuss, I just like to show…when you spend enough time around me you just “see”..however, that doesn’t translate to my blog or to guiding others not physically local to me…so I open my heart and share here.
I want you, and everyone, to understand that it *is* as easy as it looks..I believe that life should be ease filled, joy filled, wonder filled–not a struggle or chore….It is as easy as opening my heart to embrace the moment as it is. As not applying a label to anything..good, bad, must, shouldn’t…but remaining open to the experience. This moment, that easy…powerful stuff…and a choice I may make this moment….
Thank you for practicing…thank you for your support and encouragement..thank you for all that you share…a precious gift….

      Hi Lance,
I’m lovin’ this..the men rule the comments today in my land of butterflies and glitter…
I am authentic..no way around that…as pollyannish, head in the clouds, heart wide open..as one may get…and I *love* that…
All I have to share with you is my human-ness, so I’m glad if it touches you…
*You* inspire me greatly–I love watching what you share through your blog, through your comments, through others blogs, your projects, your love of your family…I love knowing that you exist in the world and share as generously as you do…thank you!

      Hi Megan,
      Thank you!
I am at the point you describe..I know what my “job” is..I am embracing it lightly as I release all else…baby stepping instead of leaping.
As I love all that you dream for me, I greatly love the vision that you describe here for me..thank you! My vision is golden, all that you describe, exactly as you describe…I know that abundance of the Universe–I am awesome at sharing it with others, now just have to learn to accept it for myself..I can feel it all right here, Megan, because I already have it all..I am allowing layers to be peeled back to See “it”…I am glad you reflect to me what is sometimes clouded within..
You are bold in your love, awesome in all ways..I am so joy filled to call you friend…

      Hi Tony,
Are you packed??? We will pick you up…joyfully! And we know the snoopy dance, so bring out the moon:)
Thank you Tony..you made me smile at the thought..*grin*

      Much peace,
      Joy

You are so right, Joy. It’s definitely a choice. And a choice to celebrate the fine moments of life is wonderful one.

  9. #11 by Davina on August 17, 2010 - 4:54 pm

    Joy,
Funny, I was just reading Lance’s recent post and it helped me to see the difference between choosing moments and choosing perspectives. Some moments or situations we don’t have a choice over, like your boss cutting your hours; some moments we can choose. When moments are brought to us that we can’t choose, our experience depends on how we perceive them. Your blog “unfolding your path to joy” is very well named 🙂 You continue to demonstrate this.

    Joy,
I agree with what Keith says you “show” others how to do it. I understand your penguin steps…we all have our own pace. The Universe is busy getting it all together for you perfectly. And when it’s ready you’ll be as well and you’ll leap into a parallel universe! I can feel it to. I can see it too! You go girl! Thanks for this.

Joy, what a challenge you were given! And what juiciness you made out of it. I love your attitude and it is definitely infectious. I can only imagine of more of us grabbed onto our litany of sorrows and turned them into magical moments, opportunities, and more how different our world would be. With love, always, all ways, J

Joy, you are amazing. It is so good to be “in love with life.” The details cannot fail to work out in alignment for your highest good, and that of your children, with an attitude and a generous open heart like this.

I will be happy to join you in that dance. Let the music of life play on… 🙂

    • #15 by unfoldingyourpathtojoy on August 18, 2010 - 2:19 am

      Hi Talon,
      Thank you!
You inspire me to allow splashes of color in my world, show me beauty I hadn’t yet seen..I *celebrate* that…

      Hi Davina,
Thank you! What I share in these pages is from my heart to show perhaps a perspective that many haven’t yet considered..the path of peace and joy as we embrace each moment exactly as it is presented…
I do not choose many of the moments that are presented to me; however I can and do choose to celebrate them for the gifts that are within…

      Hi Tess,
      Thank you..
I am a leaper by nature, so this baby stepping is new to me…What I do know is that new and different steps brings new and different results…so I am excited as this path unfolds in my life..
Thank you for your vision…I love to See through others eyes..and what you show and reflect is amazing to me:)

      Hi Jan,
Thank you! Juiciness may be from the mega quantity of now in season peaches that I enjoy…I *love* juiciness…
I believe we don’t have to have a “litany of sorrows” but rather an abundance of life experiences that delight, amaze, allow us to rejoice…Magical indeed:) And what a different world it would be…

      Meredith,
Thank you! I am in love with life, unconditionally….each and every moment..no expectations..just plain, pure Love…
Thank you for your vision…beauty filled, and I See it…
We are creating quite a dance circle…I agree “let the music of life play on..”

      Much peace,
      Joy

    My dear Joy!

I read your story from start to finish without judgment. I stayed open and receptive to what you were sharing, and the whole time my smiler kept getting bigger and bigger, and by the time I heard what your son said to you about the moon, I had to fight back tears.

You are one AWESOME lady Joy! I truly will never tire of saying this to you and I hope you never tire of hearing it! Talk about leading and living by example.

It is SO always a choice! Always. I thought you had a fabulous time and made such an amazing set of moments out of all the Universe presented you with. Good for you Joy, honestly, good for you. Everything in this world soared because of it, not only your vibration, or your kids, or your readers, but that of the whole world.

I know it will all work out, and with a pleasant surprise twist. It always does, but especially for you with that surprise twist, because that is what I wish for you, and what I know you so deserve.

The car, the boss, the insurance all that will pass and fade away, but the love you experienced and the way your soul has expanded because of this, will last with you for always.

And my goodness Joy, in the midst of all that, your kind hear said all those beautiful things about me. Thank you so, so much! Can’t wait for our real live hug!

What a wonderful day, finding that the simplest things in life are the best. I’ve felt joy like that occasionally where you’re one with the world. I also love your idea that we are the creators of our world, not the other way around.

I’m glad to have found your blog and will read some more. Thanks!

    • #18 by unfoldingyourpathtojoy on August 21, 2010 - 10:29 pm

      Hi Betsy,
Thank you for stopping in…and thank you for your comment.
I have no control over external, but I have full control over how I choose to interact with it all..so I choose to create the moment, and allow for magic to be applied…
And, a love affair with the world is most fun 🙂
