Monday Blessing: Simplicity

“In an utter emptiness

anything can take place.”  – John Cage

Midnight, No waves,

no wind, the empty boat

is flooded with moonlight.” – Dogen

Abundance and prosperity

Are knocking loudly at your door.

May you allow them to enter your space…

May your space be clear of clutter,

Piles, barriers, messes…

Anything that removes the potential for

Abundance and Prosperity to

grow and blossom.

May you see the beauty all around you, as well as in the mirror.

May you hear the tones, melodies, variances in the space around you.  May you dance…

May you taste the delights of the world.

May you touch in various ways.

May you smell fragrances, nuances that are layered and provide depth to you.

May you allow your senses to lead you.  Then, may you allow your senses to rest fully.

In stillness.  Quiet. Utter peace.

May you allow Light to illuminate your Way…

May your space be clean so that Light may shine through…

May you embrace all that is pure, golden,

I have a new feature on my blog called “Everyday Miracles”…located on the header…may it inspire you to notice the miracles perfectly placed in your life each and every day…

Much peace,

Joy, that first quote from John Cage really struck me today. I’m not sure why yet, but I feel like that could be very specific to me. I wish I could say more right now. I’ll need to process it first.

Oh, okay, no, I think it might be this: “So you feel lacking. Good. Even that is a good place for possibilities to fill you and then start growing.”

    Hmmm… nope. I thought I had it! 😛

*grin* You have it..I know it..after you peel back a few layers you’ll find it again:)
To me it means that when I clear space, when I choose to put myself in absolutely nothing..then I *am* or *have* Everything…pure Energy…anything is possible!!! There aren’t any distractions or any ugliness or any negative, just space to fill as I choose, or as I allow to be filled…These two quotes are on my small quote wall on the boat…very inspirational to me…

A few years ago, I became aware of the “voluntary simplicity” movement, and have felt a strong connection to it ever since. I spent the time since then slowly removing clutter from my life and from my living space, learning to treasure the items that I choose to keep, simply because of all the things that I have chosen to remove.

As you know, about three months ago, I decided to move to California. When I did, I had to leave almost all of my material possessions behind. That was more simplicity than I ever wanted! However, it turned out to be a huge blessing, because now I am able to fill my new space with things that I truly love. Things that I pick out, things that I enjoy, things that are 100% “me”. Everything I have is a reflection of my personality, and of my spirit. In a way, losing everything was the best gift I ever gave to myself. I freed myself from a lot of mental clutter when I let go of the physical clutter, and the result has been a much more peaceful energy in my home and in my life.

      Hi Jay,
I undertand you’ve allowed your space to be cleared materially. You made the choice to leave your material stuff behind, and eventually it was released. It’s also important to recognize the attachment one may have to material that has been released….and to loosen those ties that may bind as well….
To me, simplicity is in material but also emotional, mental, spiritual..thoughts, words, deeds, actions…the World makes Life, makes Living so complex…often when people allow their minds to lead it clutters the space they are in…
I choose simplicity…I choose to lead with my heart and embrace all that is simple and good…so I work to clear All of my living space on all levels…clutter in one area may potentially affect cleanliness in another…

I love visiting your site. You always remind to stop and appreciate the beauty and abundance in my life. All too often, I let them hide in the corner. I love that you help me bring them out to play.

While I loved all of what you wrote and absorbed it like a prayer, my favorite line in your writing was this one, “May you smell fragrances, nuances that are layered and provide depth to you.”

I suppose this one jumped out at me for a reason. I may need to do some pondering about it. Thanks and I will check out your “Everyday Miracles.”

      Hi Sara,
Thank you! Your site is so beauty filled…I am in awe of your vision and how you share it. I think you like the “fragrances”…because you love your…so it speaks to your heart on that level…

I loved your Everyday miracles. I’m not as good as you about trusting the Universe. It’s something I’m still working on.:~)

Then again, I have known people who, like you, give things over to their God and have found that things somehow work out. Perhaps it’s really about trust and belief. If you trust your belief, you can make it happen:~)

I’m on my third attempt at replying..keeps getting erased…
So I am just going to say thank you. Thank you for remaining open to everyday miracles even though you may doubt it or not understand it. Through your photos and words and all that you share, I can tell your heart is open to much more than your mind allows credit for…You are beauty filled and I truly appreciate all that you share!

Then, may you allow your senses to rest fully.

That’s a great line, and something that I had never thought about before. When I think of simplicity, it’s taking the time to appreciate what our senses are experiencing (which is something that we don’t often do). But the idea of letting your senses rest intrigues me… thanks for the idea!

      Thank you for stopping by!
Rest is ultra important on all levels…just as my body needs rest, all about my Being needs rest. I think as a society we fear being ‘unplugged’, yet unplugged is our pure state allowed the freedom to “Be”…..

Dear Joy, I read in a book called ‘Love without End’ that Love commands all the infinite particles which all things are made of. It therefore makes sense to only have that many things in your possession that you can love. If you have too many things which you cannot give your love to, these things are lost to add to abundance and joy. That made a lot of sense to me and why only Love creates miracles. xox Wilma

      Hi Wilma,
      Love is always the Answer:)
I also believe it’s not just “things in our possession” but words, thoughts, actions..all of it may be cluttered and all needs to be treated with care and respect so they may become treasures…I agree that Love may create miracles..but I also think that miracles also need proper space to form completely…how much I have missed because my space was too cluttered to see, or to full to fit the entire gift being presented…

What we’ve often thought as a cliche is a truth we always need to be reminded of – SIMPLICITY IS BEAUTY. Simplicity is living a joyous life 😉

  9. #17 by Tess The Bold Life on June 29, 2010 - 2:42 am

This comes at the perfect time. We’re selling our home and someone was suppose to come and look at it today. It’s suppose to be free of clutter and I found myself hiding a few things under the bed!LOL I guess if I’m hiding them I don’t need them. ROFLOL

    This was perfect timing.

Oh and by the way they ended up changing their mind on seeing the house at the last minute. So I was mad I put all that effort in picking up. Well if I didn’t have too much stuff…I wouldn’t have to.

Now I see the lesson for me was in releasing more, my frustration was being projected on the buyers changing their minds. I’m so glad I visited your blog today!

    • #18 by unfoldingyourpathtojoy on June 30, 2010 - 4:53 am

      Hi Tess,
      Thank you:)
Your house is something you have invested Energy..your heart..into. Please remember the potential buyers are looking for the ‘perfect’ space to move into..they are not judging you, they are looking for the right space. Perhaps you may go through your home and give each room one final blessing, with your heart full of gratitude for all that you’ve experienced in your home you may then release your house. This will free up space for you to enjoy the process, and greet each buyer enthusiastically as well as prepare your heart for the next stage of your journey.
I think the buyers do not care about clutter you moved under the bed…they care about the overall Energy…and you *rock* so the overall energy of your home will be a huge blessing to the right people…Clutter is not only material that we may ‘hide under the bed’ but also our thoughts and all lwe associate with what we have hidden…clutter may be released on all levels…

The first quote struck me too. It really made me stop and take a breath and empty out. It’s amazing the impact a few words can have on you. I love your idea of the Everyday Miracles feature, Joy. You could start quite a collection of these over time. Always inspiring to read.

    • #22 by unfoldingyourpathtojoy on June 30, 2010 - 4:55 am

      Hi Davina,
      Thank you!!
A few words, or a photo, can be life changing if we allow for the space to accept what we are presented with…
