After writing Friday’s post, I went about enjoying a weekend of fun with my children. A weekend in which I actually had minimal resources but discovered abundance and treasures I do not yet have words for….and I will share our adventures with you next Monday complete with a slide show of photos….so tune in next Monday for that….
For now, it’s just a poignant reminder to me to continue to stand in Faith, concentrate on all that I *do* have, and allow God and the Universe to guide me and work magic along the way…truly *magnificent*!
I was one of the few in the universe who wasn’t familiar with the Sufi poet Rumi’s works…..I believe it was a few months ago that I discovered his poems and became fascinated. I’ve never read such things…opens my heart, my hope, makes me want to dance, sing, think, just be…all at the same time:) So, I have two small treats for you today. This weekend I found a book by Rumi, so I have one poem from Rumi along with one of my favorite very chill Van Morrison songs “Days Like This”……two different mediums that only just begin to describe to you the joys from this past weekend with my children…..
“Birdwings” by Rumi
Your grief for what you’ve lost lifts a mirror
up to where you’re bravely working.
Expecting the worst, you look, and instead,
here’s the joyful face you’ve been wanting to see.
Your hand opens and closes and opens and closes.
If it were always a fist or always stretched open,
you would be paralyzed.
Your deepest presence is in every small contracting
and expanding,
the two is beautifully balanced and coordinated
as birdwings.
May you have…
a “Day Like This”….
When all of what the lyrics express ring true to you.
When you allow your heart to remain open even if you’ve been hurt.
When you stand strongly in Faith
and allow for unfolding in your day, your week, your month, your life…
When you experience such a day..
A “day like this”..
May you give praise….straight from your heart.
May you allow you Spirit to soar.
May you allow the beauty, love, joy, peace, magic…
of each moment
to wrap around you,
enliven each of your senses,
So that you soon realize
you are the air, the sun’s ray’s, the moon’s beams…
you are the beauty, love, joy, peace, magic
you are abundance
*You* are….
Much peace,
Joy

Jay,
Thank you…
“Days like this” are rare treats for me now…but that is because I often let obligations and responsiblities act as barriers…. I keep thinking when my children are 18…but actually “days like this” happen lots with my little family…*that’s* what often makes those days the best…my little family sharing as we do and allowing for unfolding…*golden*

I had “days like this” this past weekend – the joy of letting the day unfold as it would… no plans on my part. What a treasure it is to have such a day.
Thank you for sharing this blessing

Joy,
Love the poem and song and days like this. Saturday afternoon we left for San Diego to watch daughter no. 4 and boyfriend finish the Rock n Roll marathon. They were relentless with their invitation and we finally gave in:) Had a blast. Got in late last nite. Dragging today. Going to see Henri in MI soon…then I think shouldn’t I be worried about the economy, the oil spill etc…? No. Just monitor myself…that’s the only thing I can change anyway. Joy to you this week.

Tess,
I want to run the Rock n Roll marathon in SD–heard it’s lots of fun!
Lol, Tess, you *shouldn’t* be worrying about much. Direct your energy exactly where you’d like it to go, enjoy your family, your life, and have lots and lots of “days like this”.
I bet your smile is radiant lately!!!

Today it rained, it was grey and cold outside and yes, there will be days like this. Soon I will sit in front of a mighty open fire and then yes, there will be days like this too.
Joy, yes we are all that you said, much love to you too, Wilma

beautiful!
*fyi, I saw one of the above comments… when they are 18 “days like this” still don’t happen much” but they do, and more often and more often every year! Wonderful post.
